The Fight for Gaza is Not Over
Since October 7th, Canadian Muslims have stood firm—protesting, organizing, and speaking out against the suffering in Gaza. We have called for justice. We have condemned Israel’s targeting of civilians, the famine, the destruction of hospitals, schools, mosques, and homes. CMPAC and Canadian Muslims have held our government accountable for its response.
But now, as the ceasefire—already broken—fades from public attention, we see many beginning to shift their focus to other pressing issues, believing the worst is behind us.
🚨 Yet, the crisis continues.
🚨 Palestinians are still suffering.
🚨 And we cannot look away.
A Crisis That Requires Continued Engagement
📌 Thousands of Palestinian lives have been killed by Israel, many of them children.
📌 Famine has become a crisis, leaving civilians without food and medical supplies.
📌 Hospitals, universities, and essential infrastructure have been destroyed.
📌 The international community continues to document serious human rights violations.
Despite all the evidence—documented by Human Rights Watch, Amnesty International, and countless independent investigators—many Canadian politicians have struggled to take a firm stand.
Since October 7th, Canadian Politicians have been faced with choices, and for many in our community, their response has raised concerns about consistency in upholding international human rights. This is not about partisanship—it is about ensuring that Canada remains a country that stands for justice, equality, and human dignity.
We Cannot Forgive
We cannot forgive politicians who have funded, justified, or turned a blind eye to this genocide.
But We Must Stay Engaged
Our role is not to blame and shame—it is to ensure that the leaders we elect understand that human rights matter to Canadian voters. It is about holding all leaders accountable to the values Canada has long championed on the world stage.
Some will tell us to focus on other priorities—on the economy, security, or the growing concerns about Canada’s place in the world. But our democracy allows us to care about all these issues while still ensuring that our votes reflect our values.
Now is the Time to Use Our Voice
📌 Voting is our tool for engagement.
📌 Democracy means we advocate for policies that align with justice and fairness.
📌 Our vote must reflect our values.
This election is an opportunity to encourage meaningful discussion, to ask the hard questions, and to ensure that our leaders recognize the importance of human rights in shaping Canada’s future.
