Over the past two months, the Canadian Muslim Public Affairs Council (CMPAC) conducted a federal election survey to understand the key issues shaping the voting decisions of Canadian Muslims ahead of the 2025 election. The findings highlight the growing demand for accountability, justice, and principled voting.

Key Findings:
📌 Near-Unanimous Voter Engagement:
- An overwhelming majority of respondents indicated they plan to vote in this election, reflecting strong civic engagement within the community.
📌 Dissatisfaction with Government’s Handling of Gaza:
- 86.1% of respondents said the government’s response to Gaza has been completely inadequate.
- Only 11.4% found it satisfactory, while an even smaller fraction rated it positively.
📌 Gaza is the Defining Election Issue:
- 75% of respondents identified Palestine and foreign policy as the most important issue determining their vote.
- Other concerns included economy & taxes (16.5%), domestic social policy (12.7%), and general foreign policy (8.9%).
📌 Shift in Political Support:
- 58.2% of respondents are changing their party support from the last election.
- Only 25.3% remain committed to the same party they voted for previously.
- 16.5% did not vote in the last election but intend to vote this time.
What This Means:
🔹 Gaza is no longer just a foreign policy issue—it is a defining domestic election concern for Canadian Muslims.
🔹 Voter loyalty is shifting, with a majority re-evaluating their party support based on candidate positions on human rights and justice.
A Call to Action:
With election day approaching, it is critical for Canadian Muslims to stay informed, engage in candidate discussions, and vote with principle.
This election, we are voting for accountability. We are voting for justice. We are voting with principle.
