She has repeatedly called for an immediate ceasefire, an end to Canadian arms exports to Israel, and the official recognition of the state of Palestine, emphasizing the urgent need to uphold international law and protect Palestinians from the ongoing violence. Mathyssen has also criticized the Canadian government’s perceived inaction and lack of courage in addressing the crisis, highlighting the pain and desperation of her Palestinian Canadian constituents and demanding accountability for violations of international humanitarian law. Furthermore, she has participated in international efforts by parliamentarians to end arms sales to Israel and recognize Palestinian statehood, and has raised concerns in Parliament about hate crimes against those in Canada supporting Palestinian human rights.
