In just one month, MuslimsVote.ca—a project of the Canadian Muslim Public Affairs Council (CMPAC)—helped accomplish what many said couldn’t be done: organize tens of thousands of Canadian Muslims across the country, place Gaza on the ballot, and prove that our community can win political power without compromising principle.
Alongside the work of other key organizations, this campaign became part of a national movement—uniting around shared values of justice, dignity, and civil rights.
The campaign wasn’t about any one party. It wasn’t about fear. It wasn’t about settling for the lesser evil.
It was about power. Organized, unapologetic, and principled political power.
The Numbers Tell the Story
📌 Over 70,000 Muslim voters mobilized
📌 500,000+ visits to our riding-level endorsement map
📌 77% of CMPAC-endorsed Muslim swing ridings elected their recommended candidate
These endorsements weren’t symbolic—they were principled. In tight races, the Muslim vote played a decisive role. In many others, it signaled loud and clear: our community is engaged, disciplined, and mobilized.
A Campaign Built on Principle, Not Sentiment
From the beginning, the campaign was designed with a clear goal: elect the most principled candidates—and push every political party to address Palestine and civil liberties as core election issues.
We focused on:
✔️ Swing ridings where Muslim voters could tip the balance
✔️ Public commitments from candidates on key policies—like a two-way arms embargo, recognition of Palestinian statehood, and opposition to anti-Palestinian racism
✔️ Local organizing, backed by a national platform and over 1,000 campaign volunteers
A Shift in Political Culture
By the end of the election, one thing is clear: Palestine remains on the agenda in Canada despite efforts by political leaders to sideline it.
Political parties noticed. Candidates adapted. And many stood with us.
What Comes Next?
We proved that Muslim voters don’t need to be locked into party loyalty.
We showed we can vote together, on principle, and with impact.
📌 We are a principled voting bloc.
📌 We organize locally and nationally.
📌 We reject silence and complicity.
📌 We demand our votes be earned.
This election was a turning point—but not an endpoint. CMPAC will continue:
- Holding MPs accountable to their commitments
- Organizing communities around issues, not parties
- Building power for the long term
We’re just getting started.
